Weezer Official Web Site announces the re-release of their wildly successful first (BLUE) album WEEZER with the companion 3-hr. DVD Video Capture Device "an amazing visual and fantastic musical journey into the pioneers of the world of Rock that is, WEEZER". Karl Koch, the DVD's director, drum technician, boot-knocka and photo-journalist to Weezer since the very formation of the band in February 14, 1992 (to be exact) has achieved a monument in Rock history in Video Capture Device.
rockstarpix / Michael Giambra Photography mined up these dusty nuggets of silver halide crystal love. I photographed our friends, forming early bands like New Balance and red dog 7. David Rizzuto, the drummer for red dog 7 and I had formed a band prior to the formation of red dog 7 called The Lennonites. Not only was I raised on The Beatles, I also played guitar and bass left handed (like Paul McCartney) I played a switched around Gibson SG bass and a left handed converted Peavey T-40 natural beast thru the cleanest Ampeg SVT-300 with the original 8x10" cabinet. I was a tonal beast that had rocked several garages and basements and clubs around Buffalo. I always wanted an original Hofner "Beatle Bass" but I settled for a Epiphone EB-3. The Lennonites, despite their blatant Beatles reference name, played original songs written by Giambra & Rizzuto. We did a killer cover of The Velvet Underground Song "What goes on" and "Sweet Jane". Joining them on drums was David Rizzuto's younger brother, prodigy musician / drummer Larry "Lars" Rizzuto. Through the vast musical evolution of the band and the graduation of the drummer Larry into "high-school", the band met and made the pinnacle decision to re-name the group EPI or The Exploding Plastic Inevitable, again a blatant rip of The Warhol / Velvet formation of the Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Skateboarding was a preferred method of transportation around our circle of friends.
Throughout high school we would run into each other going to various band practices, classes, music lessons and rock concerts. Karl Koch documented the music emergence of Weezer, one of the best "new" 10 year old alt-rock emo pioneers that has collectively changed music for the better. Karl and I were friends back in our days at the Big Green (Nichols School), he was an ambitious painter who worked acrylic and oil on creatively huge canvases.
Giambra reflects, "Karl was also an outgoing shredder, musician and visual artist. Before he became the producer of his own record label Amorphous Records and production house. DJ-Selector masterpiece mixer karlophone, Press any Key to begin knew how to shred a mean half-pipe. I remember scouting empty pools with Karl Koch, John Drenning and Allen Farmello. We would be on constant pilgrimages, looking for the pools and ramps with the best transition and vertical for added sweetness. We would often have impromptu skate jams in parking lots, empty pools and backyard ramps throughout the Summer of 1984-88. I was primarily a lens man, a still and video photographer. Nichols School had and old gym that was transformed into an art building for us. We would always be hanging out in the artsy fartsy facilities at school (darkrooms, studios and an old huge squash court that was transformed into a mosh pit of painting and art by our beloved 'eccentric' painting teacher. It was located right next to the tennis courts which provide an ultimate surface for power-slides and ollies in between classes. John Drenning went on to be one of the first Roadie and Guitar Technician for The Goo Goo Dolls on their first tour. I would later go on to document the Goo's on the Dizzy up the Girl Tour. I shared a flat in Buffalo with Dave Schulz, an old friend from Buffalo, Dave was the keyboard player on that tour. It was fun and we could listen to loud Clash, Bob Marley and Black Flag and Husker Du music . Check out the evolution of music history and the future sounds with Weezer's multimedia history offering. Here is what people are saying about the Blue Album Weezer / DVD Video Capture Device. "
...early praise: "Music DVD's are so lame these days with no thought put into them whatsoever, they always just seem like a way to cash in on an artist, but the WEEZER DVD has a sense of purpose to it, it tells a story, and shows the history of such a great band. Thanks for the treasures...it's a wonderful piece!" --Miles "the intern" from Live105 radio, San Francisco.

"It's
a total blam-blam!"
Currently we are working on a load of exciting new features for upcoming rockstarpix.tv shows. I am very pleased and excited about the ' massively extended ' David Bowie North American Reality tour http://www.davidbowie.com . I purchased my tickets online via Mr. Bowies ( or David Jones, aka the Laughing Gnome ) own private ISP. Someone way ahead of his time! I believe the tickets sold out in about one bar of Changes. What has not been said about this iconic art-music legend? The astral-reaching " sci-fi motion picture alien rock-music invasion " Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972) to the surreal nightmarish and painted clown images of Scary Monsters, Super Creeps (1980). I will save the goods for the review and interview. Bowies new album Reality is aural treasure of groundbreaking material and classic songs reminiscent of his pioneering breakout days of Diamond Dogs. David Bowie has defined independence and innovation through classical art, media and pop culture. Heavily crafted epics transform into raw and primal screams, his music and visual arts are gifts to us like musical manna from the heavens, or heathens. Look into the beaming glow hole in your ceiling and outside knocking on your door it is...
